Participants receive three sets of materials, each followed by exams. Each set includes step-by-step study guides for self-directed learning. Successfully completing the program, passing the exams and meeting the other qualifications results in SME Certified Professional Salesperson® certificate.
Level One: ($300, approximately four months)

- First Steps to Success in Outside Sales, a 12-lesson audio tape program by Dave Kahle.
- An exam.
Level Two: ($400, approximately six months)
- A set of study guides/progress reports.
- Mastering Self-Directed Learning, a manual by Dave Kahle.
- Take Your Sales Performance Up a Notch, a book by Dave Kahle.
- Smart Selling, a ten lesson audio tape program by Dave Kahle.
- An exam.
Level Three: ($595, approximately one to two months)
- An application from SMEI.
- Materials from SMEI.
